ok, I Looked on the
49th Ward Website
Just Like the
Alderman Suggested.

I Couldn't Find This
Important Meeting Listed.

On Tuesday February 28, Alderman Joe Moore will be holding a meeting to consider a proposal to downzone a significant portion of an area bounded by Pratt Ave, Ravenswood, Touhy and Ridge to an RS-2 zoning designation.

The meeting will be on
Tuesday, February 28 at 7 p.m. at
Paschen Park
(corner of Lunt / Damen between Clark and Ridge Ave).

I only found out from Anne,
who I think found out from Brian,
well, you get the picture.......

Alderman Moore says......

"In the spirit of transparency, I will also post on my website, www.ward49.com, the agendas of all future 49th Ward Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee meetings and the results of those meetings. I will also continue my practice of posting notices of community meetings on major zoning issues. "

Am I Missing Something?

Our Neighbors Aren't http://www.forum49.org/docs/LuntAreaNeighbors.pdf

This is a major issue for the neighbors in that particular neighborhood and for the rest of us too. That relatively small, stable, single family home area has seen at least 18 new concrete cookie cutter cracker boxes built in the last 3 years. Apparently, many of them built by Mr. Aronson.

things that make you go hhhmmm?

i thought we already received a promise from the alderman, since the loyola meeting debacle, that he would join the 21st century and utilize his website. maybe the volunteer the alderman claims blew it last time, is still mia.

i mean, if i can learn this stuff at my advanced, hale and hearty age, there is hope for his volunteer. but, i guess he would need to be found first.

i am impressed with the acumen you display regarding this secretive and oft misunderstood varmint. however, there does seem to exist a substantial conflict between the carniverous tendencies of this particular rodent and it's fros grois ideology.

perhaps this can be explained away by its voraciuos tendency to horde. please illuminate.

the october 17th date in question simply begs more questions.

"based upon the evidence presented, it is the Hearing Officer's finding that there is justifiable grounds for proceeding to an Open Preliminary Hearing."

in future, please consider rpr as your mouse hair lined, motel six. we'll always leave the light on for ya.

Guys...don't forget that JM is (was?) a lawyer...he only said he'd post about the ZLUAC meetings - no more, no less.

It's that old letter vs. spirit thing again...

Anyway, I checked the 49th ward website again just now - nothing about ZLUAC meetings or any other related meetings...I'd be happy to show you Dreamweaver Joe, it's really not as hard to add content to a website as you may think...

Alderman Moore's response arrived in my email @4:06 yesterday. My apologies for the delay. I want to thank Alderman Moore for his quick response.

Gary,

Thank you for your e-mail. Now that I have a web site up and running (Ward49.com), notices of major public meetings that I sponsor are posted on the site. I intended to have the notice of last night's meeting posted on the web site, but unfortunately that didn't happen due to a miscommunication with the volunteer who maintains my site. I apologize for that oversight. The oversight is mitigated, however, by the fact that last night's meeting was primarily informational with no major decisions on tap.

As I indicated last night, the meeting was held at the request of RPCAN, and they agreed to undertake primary responsibility for publicizing the meeting. Nonetheless, I made sure that my office arranged for volunteers to flier the portion of the 49th Ward most affected by the TIF (Farwell south to Granville). We also notified all the major community organizations. Given that well over a hundred people have attended each of the previous TIF meetings, I believe notice for those meetings was sufficient.

Few TIFs in the City of Chicago, with the possible exception of the Wilson Yard TIF, have been the subject of more community participation and process. None of the meetings that I have sponsored and none of the community process that Alderman O'Connor, DevCorp and I have put into place are required by law. We do it because we believe community residents have a right to participate in the decisions made about the future of the neighborhood. That a minority of people may disagree with the results of those decisions, does not mean that the process was somehow flawed.

Thanks again for your e-mail. I appreciate your suggestions on how I can make the process more inclusive, and I assure you I will be more vigilant about posting notices of future meetings on my web site.

Alderman Joe Moore

Good catch, Hugh - you're right...

(A simple sorry would have been better...)

Gary, I'm a little confused about which meeting this letter you got yesterday at 4:06 refers to...I guess because I didn't see the flyers? Was there a TIF meeting on last Sunday night?...help my poor tired brain here....

So, in January Joe told us:
I assure you I will be more vigilant about posting notices of future meetings on my web site.

Any in February Joe told us:
In the spirit of transparency, I will also post on my website, www.ward49.com, the agendas of all future 49th Ward Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee meetings and the results of those meetings. I will also continue my practice of posting notices of community meetings on major zoning issues.

I just checked his site
- checked the "calendar of events", and the "ward news" sections, and also did a search for "meetings" and there is nothing there...they could have started with posting the results from the last ZLUAC meeting...but there I go again expecting the spirit rather than the letter to happen...I guess we should have asked for a firm implementation date for these notices on the ward site, but that seemed so, well, rude at the time, not to give Joe the benefit of the doubt...If your volunteer fell down Joe, just let me know...I can come by and post these kinds of announcements on your site anytime...
